Feeling hungry but don't want to join long queue during lunch/dinner time on NEX Mall? You may try your luck by visiting The Little Fish Shop. I believed you will have a higher chance not to have long queue compared with other restaurants around there.  You don't believe me? I have been to NEX before and ended up eating at this place because of the long queue at other restaurants.

Maybe you are all wondering, "don't have long queue..It means the food is not good". Sorry, you are wrong. The foods are delicious and seafood are fresh.

We try Pan Seared Barramundi and Spaghetti Vongole.

Pan Seared Barramundi is delicious and the Barramundi fish is fresh. The sauce makes perfect combination to eat.

Spaghetti Vongole contains of spaghetti with fresh Crabmeat and Clams in a white Wine Garlic sauce. The taste is ok.

Personally, I prefer Pan Seared Barramundi than Spaghetti Vongole. Since this restaurant is specialized in seafood, it's better to order the seafood than other foods (spaghetti, etc).

My only comment on this restaurant is that they should provide clean and new tissue to put on the table. They also need to change the tissue regularly even though there is no one sitting on the chair.  It's because in my table, I find the dusty and dirty tissue.

Will I go there again? Maybe yes.

Tea Tree Cafe

Have you ever imagined the fertile plant soil is edible for us and have delicious taste? This soil is fertile enough to grow from the seeds to a small leaf. I try eating it before and I agree that the taste is delicious. Do you believe me? You may see below image as a prove.

 

Hehehe, let's stop my nonsense and start the review.  This is actually a dessert that looks like a plant in a small pot. I find this desserts at Tea Tree Café - NEX Mall.

The soil is made from ice cream, jelly, candy which can blow in your mouth and oreo on the top.

 

It's very tasty and for sure you will crave for a second one.

Will I go there again? Yes.

Hot Tomato

Feel hungry after your CNY shopping at NEX? You may try Hot Tomato.

Hot Tomato is an affordable Western food restaurant that offers you quite a decent meal, with the jumbo portion that definitely will make your stomach full.

Over there We ordered Mixed Grill "N" Aglio Olio, Steak, Prawn "N" Aglio Olio and Ribeye Steak "N" Aglio Olio.

Mixed Grill "N" Aglio Olio is the most famous dish in this restaurant. It's because with S$11.90, you can get Sausages, Pork Chop, Teriyaki Chicken and Spaghetti. It's worth to try for the big appetite person.

Steak, Prawn "N" Aglio Olio and Ribeye Steak "N" Aglio Olio are also not a bad option either. The Steak is tender and the Prawn is fresh.

Overall this restaurant is worth to try. Just bear in mind that for most of the time the queue is quite long, especially during lunch and dinner time.

Will I go there again? Yes if it`s not too crowded.

Bibigo

Craving Korean foods while shopping at NEX Mall? You shall try Bibigo.
 
Bibigo offers healthy and delicious Korean dishes which from my personal view is “worth-to-wait for try”.
 
Went there alone during lunch, I ordered the Spicy Chicken Stew and Black Rice. Spicy Chicken Stew is their recommendation dish. Since the dish never comes with rice, I ordered black rice as well.
 
Beginning, I was quite upset with their service. I only ordered 1 dish and it took them more than 30 minutes to prepare. Even one of the waitress over there realized (maybe on that time my face was as black as the black rice I ordered) and took the initiative to check with me and hurriedly went back to the kitchen after that.
 
I can guarantee-chop that they missed out my order.  It’s a kind of funny coz there are not so many people at that time.
 
Finally, after around 40 minutes my dish came...
 
Spicy Chicken Stew is a nutritious dish cooked with locally grown whole chicken, plentiful vegetables in Kohot sauce.
 
This dish is surprisingly refreshingly delicious. The soup is very tasty and the combination tastes between chicken, potatoes (and other unknown secret ingredients) are awesome!!! One more thing that I need to mention here, the portion is generously enough for 2 ladies. But, ehem, I still prefer to have it alone =P

Black rice is also nice. It tastes better than the white rice.
 
I hope Bibigo management can improve their service and maintains their foods’ quality.
 
Will I go there again? If not in rush, I absolutely will go there again.

Ayam Penyet President

Hi all, today I want to share with you one Indonesian restaurant called Ayam Penyet President. It's located at Serangoon NEX Shopping Mall.

I was quite surprise  to find an Indonesian restaurant at NEX. In my mind, Yeah finally, I no need to travel until Orchard just to have ayam penyet / ayam bakar.

Without hesitation, we decided to have dinner over there. We ordered Smashed Fried Chicken, Grilled Chicken and Beef ball soup.

Smashed Fried Chicken comes with tofu, bean cake (tempe), crispy bits and their signature chili paste.

Grilled Chicken comes with grilled tofu, bean cake and cut chili in black sauce.

After we tried, we were super disappointed with the taste. The Smashed Fried Chicken was not so nice.

Grilled Chicken was slightly better than the Smashed Fried Chicken, but don't eat the grilled chicken with the provided cut chili in black sauce. The black sauce taste was so weird.

Beef ball taste was okay. It's a bit similar like Indonesian style.

Will I go there again? No

Andersen`s of Denmark Ice Cream

Looking for a sweet and nice ice cream dessert @ Serangoon NEX?  You may want to try Andersen`s of Denmark Ice Cream.

FYI, Ice creams at Andersen`s are using traditional Danish recipes.

Over there, we ordered Couple Fondue, Andersen`s Classic and Homemade Brownie.

Couple Fondue is ideal for 2 person. This fondue comes with 5 scoops of rich and creamy Andersen`s ice cream, fruits, marshmallow, ice cream cones and cookies.

Andersen`s Classic comes with 5 scoops of delectable Andersen`s ice cream, served in a crispy chocolate dipped waffle basket.

We tried all of the ice creams flavours that they have, such as:
- Vanilla. This ice cream consists of luxurious taste of real Madagascan vanilla bean, lavishly crushed into the ice cream.
- Fruit of Forest. A delicious combination of raspberries, blueberries and strawberries.
- Belgian Chocolate Chip.
- Strawberries & Cream. They using natural colour of real strawberries.
- Banana Crunch. This ice cream has the real taste of bananas with chocolate chunks and walnuts.
- Mint Chocolate Chip.
- Rum & Raisin.
- Macadamia Nut.
- Mocha Almond Fudge. Combining coffee, chocolate fudges and almond strips.
- Cookies & Cream. They using chunks of Oreo cookies.

Both Couple Fondue and Andersen`s Classic desserts are  refreshingly yummy-licious sweet.

Homemade Brownie is not bad either. The portion is quite big, I can guarantee that this cake will make you feel full.

Overall, we quite satisfied with their ice cream and brownie.

Note: You may skip your dinner after eating these desserts :p
