Dessert First

Craving for a Snow Ice or Shaved Ice around Bugis area? You may try Dessert First.

Dessert First offers few types of Snow Ice and Shaved Ice. We tried Strawberry Snow Ice with Mango Cubes, Durian Shaved Ice and Mango Shaved Ice.

The main highlight in this shop is Durian Shaved Ice. They claimed that they use fresh durian as a topping. After eating it, we all agree that they really are using a fresh durian to make an ice cream. The taste is beyond our expectation. It's because you can feel the durian texture in the durian ice cream. Amazing, right?

For durian lover, this Durian Shaved Ice is a must to order. No wonder Durian Shaved Ice is their recommendation.

Other that Durian Shaved Ice, Mango Shaved Ice is also classified as one of their recommendation menu. The taste is nice and the mango is fresh.

Even though Strawberry Snow Ice with Mango Cubes is not classified as a recommendation menu, I still dare to try that. Because based on my experiences, I figure out that about 60% of the recommendation dishes at many restaurants are not reflected on the taste.  It tastes sweet and nice.

Please take note that this shop is very crowded especially at night. So you may expect a longer waiting time.

Will I go there again? Yes.

Saveur

Today I will review about a famous French restaurant in Singapore named Saveur.

Saveur is a brainchild of two young and enterprising friends that served quality French cuisine with affordable price.

As requested by my teammate to have her farewell lunch at Saveur, we decided to go to Saveur`s Purvis branch.

Over there, we ordered 3 lunch courses set. Each set (S$22.90++) consists of one entrée (Mushroom Soup, Saveur`s Pasta or Garden Salad), one Main (Duck Confit, Chicken Roulade, Pork Belly or Seabass) and one Dessert (Pistachio Panna Cotta or Crème Brulee).

Chicken Roulade

Chicken Roulade is a Chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras-infused chicken farce, creamy Basmati Rice and Parmesan sauce. This Chicken Roulade is very delicious. Chicken is tender, creamy Basmati Rice is also nice.

Duck Confit

Duck Confit consists of duck with Mashed Potato, Saute Shitake with Parsley and Garlic, Orange segments and orange infused natural juice. This duck is amazingly crunchy. This is one of the most popular dish at Saveur.

Saveur`s Pasta

Saveur's Pasta is a pasta that comes with Chilli Oil, finely chopped Konbu, Minced Pork Sauce, Chives and Sakura Ebi. Saveur`s Pasta taste is delicious. It remains me of Indonesian noodle taste.

Pistachio Panna Cotta

Pistachio Panna Cotta is a Pistachio flavoured cooked cream with ground and caramelized Pistachio. It's a decent dessert to try.

Crème Brulee

Crème Brulee is also not bad. It's not too sweet. I like it.

Overall we were happily having our lunch in here. It's really worth to try the 3 lunch courses promo.

FYI, This 3 lunch courses promo are available from Monday - Friday from 12:00 PM - 02:30 PM at Purvis branch. One more thing to take a note, you should make a reservation first prior coming to the restaurant.

Will I go there again? Yes.

World Street Food Congress 2015

Wondering where to go today? You may visit World Street Food Congress 2015 at Bugis area.

World Street Food Congress 2015 held from 8 - 12 April 2015. They have 24 stalls from 21 cities from all over the world in this event.

FYI, they have different counter for ordering the food and collecting the food. So you need to queue two times: queue for ordering the food and after that queue again for collecting the food. It would be better that if you are not going there alone. So your partner can queue for collecting the foods while at the same time you queue for ordering and pay the food.

Over there, we tried Churros Sundae from Chrurros Locos (USA), Deep Fried Shisamo from Bon Chovie (USA), and Banh Xeo & Banh Can from Banh Can 38 (Vietnam).

Churros Sundae S$8.00

Churros Sundae is quite nice. The churros is also crispy.

Deep Fried Shisamo (3pcs) S$10.00

Deep Fried Shisamo is very tasty. Deep Fried Shisamo comes with French Fries and sauce. You will not regret to order this.

Banh Xeo and Banh Can S$9.00

Banh Xeo is a Vietnamese Crispy Seafood Pancake and Banh Can is a Vietnamese Mini Seafood Pancake. One portion of this dish contains of two Banh Can, one Banh Xeo, vegetable and sauce. The taste is nice.

Overall, all the foods we tried were delicious. My only comment, is it worth the money? Let's yourself decide whether it's worth or not :)

Tai-Parfait

Today I will share with you about a famous dessert among youngsters and girls named Tai-Parfait.

Tai-Parfait (a.k.a Taiyaki Parfait) is a dessert that is made from the combination of Japanese dessert (Taiyaki) and French dessert (Parfait).

Basically, they put whipped cream/ice cream, chocolate sauce/caramel sauce, chocolate stick, and azuki/fruits (banana, strawberry) on the top of taiyaki mouth.

It's a very smart idea for creating this dessert. The cute looks of Tai-Parfait makes this dessert popular among girls and in a very short time, it becomes a famous dessert in Singapore.

Over there, I order Strawberry Chocolate. Strawberry Chocolate consist of whipped cream, strawberry, chocolate sauce and chocolate stick.

This Strawberry Chocolate Tai-Parfait is amazingly delicious. The combination between taiyaki and the toppings are perfect.

Will I go there again? Yes

Ramen Champion

A few years back one of my reader "Anihe" requested me to review Ramen Champion, but I didn't have time to go there.  Finally, I managed a time to go there with my cousin last August.

Ramen Champion has unique concepts.  They put more than one famous Japanese Ramen sellers from different province together in one place. There are Menban Yamagishi Kazuo, Gantetsu, Muso, Bario and Ikkousha. They are competing to declare which ramen is the best among them during a period of time and Ramen Champion management will announce the winner of this competition. The winner will be determined by the most ramen bowl that they able to sell to customer during that period.

Me and my cousin ordered Hokkaido King Tonkotsu from Gantetsu and Special Ramen from Menban Yamagishi Kazuo.

I like Special Ramen more than Hokkaido King Tonkotsu Ramen. It's because the Special Ramen broth is tastier. Luckily my cousin ordering the Special Ramen and pity me because he only allows me to try a bit. :p

Will I go there again? Yes, I will try another Ramen.

Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Cafe

Looking for a delicious Blackforest cake in Singapore? You may visit Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café.

Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café is a Stuttgart café located at GSM Building - Singapore.

Introduction about Blackforest Boutique S-Café

Stuttgart is the capital of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in Southwest Germany. This place is the gateway to the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range in Baden-Wurttemberg, bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. The name Schwarzwald (German for Black Forest) because the dense growth pines and conifers blocked out most of the light inside the forest. Black Forest cake originated from this region (they naming the cake by inspired from the Black Forest). This cake is made from chocolate cake, cream, cherries and kirsch.

They decorate this café similar like Stuttgart's Black Forest. You also will found a lot of authentic wood-carving like Cuckoo clocks and many more in this place. FYI, wood-carving is their traditional industry. Their café decoration blew me away.

Back to the food review, we ordered Tea Time Set (Coffee and Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte) and Spezialitaten Bratwurst.

Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte is their signature Blackforest cake that contains alcohol. This cake is freshly baked and only limited servings per day. This cake is very nice, but also got quite heavy taste of the alcohol. If you don't mind with the alcohol taste, you MUST try this cake.

Spezialitaten Bratwurst consists of Specialty sausages, potato salad and Sauerkraut (choice of beef, chicken or pork). I ordered Chicken and Beef sausages. I prefer their Chicken sausage rather than the beef sausage. It contains cheese inside the Chicken sausage. The cheese will burst out when you bite the sausage. It's very yummy.

Overall, we were enjoyed having lunch at this café. Good choice to chill out.

Bergs

Hello, Guys!!

How’s your 4 days long holiday?? I’m sure this morning everyone got a bit difficulty in waking up, am I correct?!?!?!

Anyway, last Saturday, I went with my cousin to have a small Singapore tour (he just came from Jakarta for holiday). Some of the place we went was Sultan Mosque and Haji Lane.

By passed this restaurant (named Bergs) and decided to have lunch over there.

Bergs is specialized in burgers. They offer two different sizes of burgers: small and normal size. Aside burgers, they also have salad, fish & chips and some of side dishes, such as chips, Calamari, onion rings, chicken wing.

Based on their recommendation, we ordered Miss Piggy and The Berg. Both burgers were ordered in small size.

Miss Piggy contains of Prime Beef Pattie, Streaky Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Edam Cheese, Aioli and Berg Sauce. This burger is very nice. The beef taste is not that strong and the bread is tasty. Their berg sauce makes the taste very delicious.

The Berg (my cousin’s ordered) contains of Prime Beef Pattie, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Aioli and Berg Sauce. He said this burger is nice.

Overall, we were very happy had our lunch @ Bergs.

Will I go there again? Of course, the answer is Yes!
