Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Cafe

Looking for a delicious Blackforest cake in Singapore? You may visit Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café.

Stuttgart Blackforest Boutique S-Café is a Stuttgart café located at GSM Building - Singapore.

Introduction about Blackforest Boutique S-Café

Stuttgart is the capital of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in Southwest Germany. This place is the gateway to the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range in Baden-Wurttemberg, bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south. The name Schwarzwald (German for Black Forest) because the dense growth pines and conifers blocked out most of the light inside the forest. Black Forest cake originated from this region (they naming the cake by inspired from the Black Forest). This cake is made from chocolate cake, cream, cherries and kirsch.

They decorate this café similar like Stuttgart's Black Forest. You also will found a lot of authentic wood-carving like Cuckoo clocks and many more in this place. FYI, wood-carving is their traditional industry. Their café decoration blew me away.

Back to the food review, we ordered Tea Time Set (Coffee and Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte) and Spezialitaten Bratwurst.

Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte is their signature Blackforest cake that contains alcohol. This cake is freshly baked and only limited servings per day. This cake is very nice, but also got quite heavy taste of the alcohol. If you don't mind with the alcohol taste, you MUST try this cake.

Spezialitaten Bratwurst consists of Specialty sausages, potato salad and Sauerkraut (choice of beef, chicken or pork). I ordered Chicken and Beef sausages. I prefer their Chicken sausage rather than the beef sausage. It contains cheese inside the Chicken sausage. The cheese will burst out when you bite the sausage. It's very yummy.

Overall, we were enjoyed having lunch at this café. Good choice to chill out.

Will I go there again? Yes

To all my super awesome readers, I just want wish you and your loved one a Happy Lantern and Moon Cake Festival 2013.

Here are some moon cakes that generously given to my sister by some lovely people =)
This is a version of Shanghai Moon Cake by Mayy Ho (my sister colleague). She was personally handmade this moon cake to be shared to her loved one, I believed. Never tried this type of moon cake before, but I can say that the pastry is crispy and delicious, and love both egg yolk and the lotus paste as well.

The following moon cakes were given by my sister's mother in law.

Kraze Burgers

Looking for foods at Plaza Singapura? Maybe you might want to read this article for your reference. Btw, please note that this is only my personal opinion :)

Introduction:
Kraze Burgers is a Korean burger restaurant located at new extension of Plaza Singapura.

Over there, we ordered Semi-nude and Creamy Salmon Pasta for our dinner.

Please let me share with you my personal thought about their foods:
Semi-nude consists of 2 x beef patty, ham cheese, Swiss cheese, fresh garden salad, grilled sun ripened tomato, grilled onion, Kraze dressing (chili and teri sauce on the side, Italian and mango sauce on top of the salad), sunny side up (egg) on top. Beginning (from the overall looks), I thought this dishes was quite nice, but, soon-after-I-tried, I was regret with this options of mine. The beef patty is not either smooth, juicy or tender, it was more to dry and slightly hard.

Creamy Salmon Pasta is another disappoint. I pitied my sister for ordered that dish. Tried her dish and what can I said is nothing, coz the food is tasteless (no taste at all). The creamy sauce (more to creamy soup for me) was very bland and the salmon was dry.

Their service quality also need improvements. It took them quite long to serve the foods. Other customers beside my table also complained the same thing.

Will I go there again? Absolutely Not!

TWG Tea Boutique

Hi all, Today I will review about TWG Tea Boutique Singapore.

TWG Tea Boutique is a restaurant that specialised in teas. They offer a wide range of nice teas. They also serve a delicious main dishes and desserts as well.

Over there, we ordered Chicken Ragout, Braised Beef, Choux Au The and Tea Shake.

Chicken Ragout contains roasted chicken with potatoes, olives, and shallot, served with a rich Red Africa Tea infused sauce. Chicken is tender and the sauce is tasty.

Braised Beef made from beef cheeks slow braised to perfect tenderness in a rich red wine sauce accompanied by an 1837 Green Tea infused potato puree with carrots, peas and button mushrooms.  This Braised Beef is my favourite. It's very tender and the potato taste is unique and nice.

Choux Au The is an ethereal composition of light and airy choux pastry filled with three homemade ice creams infused with Matcha, Vanilla Bourbon Tea and Singapore Breakfast Tea, then enrobed in a warm chocolate sauce. This dessert is not a bad option.

Tea Shake made from TWG Tea Milkshake with Lucky Tea Sorbet (which is blend of black tea, green tea and white chocolate). Be sure to order this when you visit this restaurant. It's super-duper nice.

Will I go there again? Yes

Yumeya Japanese Restaurant

My office located at Mohamed Sultan road, which have a lot of nice Japanese restaurants. I worked there around more than 1 year yet haven't tried one of them. Finally I and my colleague able manage a time to try lunch at one of the Japanese restaurants named Yumeya Japanese Restaurant.

Yumeya Japanese Restaurant has an authentic Japanese style decoration. They decorate with many types of sake bottle and even the waitress wearing kimono. I guess they are coming from Japan as I heard they talked to each other’s using Japanese language.

Interested with their set lunch, we ordered Saba Shio Yaki Set and Sanma Shio Yaki Set. This set comes with rice, two vegetables side dishes, Chawanmushi and two slices watermelon.

My colleague said the Saba fish is nice.

Although Sanma fish has too many tiny bones, it is not bad to try. For the person like me who don't know the technique to remove Sanma fish bone, you need to extra careful so you will not choke by the fish bone.

We are both agreeing that the vegetable side dishes are very tasty. I guess the key that makes these dishes so delicious is their sauce.

The only thing that needs improvement is their serving time. It took quite long time for them to serve the foods. For the taste wise, it's worth to try.

N.B: Set meal only available during afternoon.

Will I go there again? Yes

Kembang Tahu

Who love bean curd? If you are one of them, don't be drooling seeing this post.

Jakarta has a lot of nice old-school foods to try. One of them is Kembang Tahu a.k.a Bean curd.

Not like Singapore, that mostly sell foods in hawker centre, a lot of foods seller in Jakarta - Indonesia required them to go from one place to other to find the customer.  They either walking and pushing /pulling their carts, riding a bicycle, motorcycle, driving a car or even carrying the cart with their own hand and body.

It's such a tough job indeed. One thing that make these seller unique is that every seller have their special characteristic of sound. I can easily know which food seller that coming after heard the sound.

One of the food seller that I mentioned earlier is a Kembang Tahu seller. Normally he will pass by my house in the morning or afternoon. This Kembang Tahu still considered as a traditional one. They put sweet ginger soup and mixed it with the bean curd.

You will feel warm right after you eat this bean curd. It's because they keep maintaining the hot level of ginger soup to make sure the ginger soup will always hot. It's very nice, fresh, fragrant yet healthy.

Sate Kambing Ayam Holil Madura

Hi all, Today I will show you one of my "MUST have" food whenever I went back to Jakarta. It's called Sate Ayam. In Singapore, we called it satay.

Although this sate looks like Singapore satay, but the taste is TOTALLY different. Singapore version of satay has a sweet taste and you can eat the satay without peanut sauce.

Indonesian version of satay is not sweet and you must eat it with either peanut sauce mixed with sweet ketchup; or sweet ketchup mixed with onion and chili padi.

Personally, I prefer Indonesian satay more than Singapore satay not because I am an Indonesian, but because the Indonesian satay taste is A LOT more delicious and NICER.

I believe you will agree with me if you already tried Indonesian satay before.

Now, I will tell to you a bit story about this Sate Kambing Ayam Holil Madura.

Every day they sell the satay start from evening until night. They were very hardworking. Can you imagine, every day they will bring their own cart from their place to Kelapa Gading. It's a tough job. After reached the place where they can stop and sell the satay, they need to heat up the charcoal around 15-20 minutes to barbeque the satay. After that, then they will be able to barbeque the satay.

They only have two types of satay' meat, you can choose between chicken or lamb satay. If you hungry, you may want to add steamed rice or lontong.

Although this place is not as clean as a 'normal' restaurant and sometimes has many mosquitoes, I still like this place. I can guarantee that this satay is nicer than the restaurant' version.

Will I go there again? Of course absolutely Yes
