Bakmie Jakarta

Yippie, finally I find one authentic restaurant which focussing on selling the Indonesian Bakmie (handmade noodle) in Singapore, named Bakmie Jakarta. Bakmie Jakarta is quite new at Killiney Road.

I called it authentic because 90% of their menu is about Bakmie.

Every time I take the shuttle bus from my office to Somerset MRT, I always by pass this restaurant. So, last month on one of the Friday evening, I ask my colleague to have our dinner over there.

I ordered Mie Kuah (Soup) Special. My colleagues tried the Bakmie ayam (chicken) special set and Bakmie Pangsit goreng (Fried Wanton).

Mie Kuah Special contains of soup noodle, chicken, fish balls, beef balls and an eggs.

The fish balls and beef balls are super chewy and nice, but the soup is a bit bland (not tasty).

They serve it not hot as well. I believed it's because they just put the cold cooked noddle into the hot soup.

Although there is have some minus point, I was not regret to try their bakmie. At least, I know a place that I would go if I am craving Indonesian bakmie at Singapore :)

Last but not least, I hope Bakmie Jakarta management will try to improve their bakmie quality :)

Mie Kuah Special  S$6.90

Bakmie Ayam Special Set S$6.90

Bakmie Pangsit Goreng S$5.50

Tung Lok Signatures

Good Day to Everyone!!

Today, let me share with you one of Tung Lok Restaurant at Vivo City. It called Tung Lok Signatures.

Last year, I and family are invited by my brother in law for the family meeting at Tung Lok Signatures.

Over there, he ordered the following fantastic Chinese foods:
- Barbecued Whole Peking duck
- Tan Jia-style Braised Shark's Fin with Dried Seafood and Shredded Fish Maw
- Sautéed Prawn with Salad Greens Preserved Vegetable in Dried Conpoy Sauce
- Traditional-style steamed Live'Soon Hock' fish with Red Dates
- Deep Fried pork ribs with Minced Garlic
- Braised Homemade Beancurd with Snow Fungus, Conpoy Crisps and Vegetables
- Fried Handmade Noodles with shredded Duck Meat
- Chilled Dessert with Dried Apricot.

Peking duck skin is very crispy and the sauce makes this dish’ taste so amazing. It makes this dish to be such a great starter.

Tan Jia-style Braised Shark's Fin with Dried Seafood and Shredded Fish Maw taste normal for me. It’s nice but not great. Maybe it’s because I am not a soup person.

Sautéed Prawn with Salad Greens Preserved Vegetable in Dried Conpoy Sauce is also one of the great dishes over there. The Prawn is quite big and fresh.

Traditional-style steamed Live'Soon Hock' fish with Red Dates and Deep Fried pork ribs with Minced Garlic is taste okay.

Other than Barbecued Whole Peking Duck, Braised Homemade Beancurd with Snow Fungus, Conpoy Crisps and Vegetables is also my favourite. The Beancurd is soft and have a delicious taste.

Fried Handmade Noodles with shredded Duck Meat was nice, but the duck meat was a bit too less. We expect it more because they use whole Peking duck meat from Barbecued Whole Peking Duck dish.

I love the Chilled Dessert with Dried Apricot dessert as well.

Thanks to my brother in law for treated us to a great dinner. Overall, the family meeting went well. We enjoyed a fantastic meal, great company and an overall awesome and relaxing night. The host, food and ambience were wonderful.

Hi, All!!

This month we will celebrate two important events, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day!! Both events are equally important and fun with a lot good foods!  Yippie, foods and love are in the air =P

Anyway, have you find or book any restaurant to celebrate Valentine with your loved one? If not, you should book it earlier, don’t drag it any longer.

For today’s post, I will share with you one lovely restaurant named Antoinette. This restaurant decoration is so damn elegantly classy, I love it so much. I guarantee all the ladies will love this place dearly.

Not just the decoration is amazing; their cakes are awesome as well. No wonder I could see many good review about this restaurant.

So, last time we tried Antoinette, Charlotte,  Forbidden Fruit and Angelique.

Antoinette consist of milk chocolate mousse infused with earl grey tea chocolate biscuit, raspberry coulis dark chocolate earl grey tea cremeux earl gret tea crumble

Charlotte consist of tahiti vanilla bavarois, vanilla creme chantilly, strawberry compote, fresh strawberry finger biscuit, kirsch

Mr Punch

ON last two weeks, I visited the MINT Museum of Toys. And for my lunch over there, I tried the Mr Punch restaurant. This restaurant is located at MINT Museum of Toys basement floor.

Over there, I was amazed with their interior design. Their restaurant wall covered with some old food’s & drink’s advertisement. It’s such a great idea and it makes the overall restaurant looks cozy and vintage.

Not only that, I also surprise with one of their menu named Coca-Cola Baby Pork Ribs. Without must hesitation, I ordered Coca-Cola Baby Pork Ribs.

The Baby back Pork Ribs marinated overnight in Coke, baked for 4 hours in low heat, and then caramelized with special seasoned Coca-Cola sauce.

As I expected, Coca-Cola Baby Pork Ribs has a unique taste. You can really taste the Coca-Cola whenever you chew the barbeque Pork Ribs. This Baby Pork Ribs is tender and juicy.  Until now, I haven’t found this kind of dish in other Singapore restaurant (or maybe it’s because my restaurant list dictionary is too less :P).

Over there I ordered Gula Melaka Panna Cotta as well.

Gula Melaka Panna Cotta is a Home-made Italian Panna Cotta made by the simmering of cream, milk and sugar, mixed with gelatin and topped with a touch of Asia – juicy gula Melaka all together.

I like the Gula Melaka Panna Cotta. The sweetness level is just nice for me and the Panna Cotta is nicely soft.

Overall, I enjoyed my lunch at Mr Punch restaurant.
