Sate Mak Syukur

Today I will share another post about Indonesia’s food. Hope you all not bored yet!!!

Sate Mak Syukur is one of so many Sate Padang’s restaurant in Jakarta. From the name itself, you may guest that their specialty is sate.

Sate Mak Syukur is opened since 1941 and become famous because of their sate Padang. This Sate is not like a sate that you normally find in Singapore.

From my personal taste, Singapore’s sate is not as tasty as the one in Jakarta, Singapore’s sate is too sweet.

Sate Make Syukur made from beef and comes with lontong and yellow gravy.

The yellow gravy made from rice flour mixed with spicy offal broth, turmeric, ginger, garlic, coriander, galangal root, cumin, curry powder and salt.

Their Sate Padang is very nice and spicy. It’s best to eat while it’s still hot.

If you go to Indonesia, don’t forget to try this Sate Padang. It’s VERY nice.

PS:
Sate: satay - a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce.
Lontong:  a dish made of compressed rice the form of a cylinder wrapped inside a banana leaf.

Sari Kuring

Share with you another Good seafood Restaurant at Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara. Sari Kuring is one of restaurant that I and family used to visit during my childhood.

It opened quite sometimes a go; it is one of the old seafood restaurants at Kelapa Gading that still survive until now. Kudos to them, I believe it’s not an easy task to compete with other new seafood restaurant that keeps coming up.

During my holiday (balik kampong trip), I went to Sari Kuring. I and Family ordered Gurame Terbang (Flying Gurame Fish), Tahu Isi Goreng, Satay ayam, sambal and Sayur asem.

Gurame Terbang is a ‘Gurame’ fish fried to a golden hue – served whole - it looks like it have a set of wings to fly.

They fried it until the fish’s bone is crispy enough for you to eat, bite and swallow it. It’s very crispy. It must be accompanied with the "sambal belacan”.

PS: The sambal belacan is another dish that you need to order. It’s not FOC!!

Tahu Isi Goreng is a fried tofu filled with assorted of vegetable. If you like fried food, you definitely will like this dish. It also must be accompanied with the "sambal belacan”. This dish is best eaten with plate of piping hot rice.

Satay ayam is an Indonesian chicken satay that taste wise is better than Singapore satay.

This satay also comes with peanut sauce. This dish is best eaten while it’s still hot.

Sayur asem is a Famous Indonesian dish that consists of many types of vegetables. The special things about the sayur asem is comes from the gravy. The gravy is so rich of flavor and it is super tasty.

And as for the drink, I tried Sirsak Juice. This juice is not bad either. They only use the fruits with no additional sugar at all.

The minus point about this restaurant is while we were eating, we got a few companions (flies) that wanted to share dinner with us =(

Although the food’s taste is slightly dropped compare with last time, I still had a great dinner over there.

Prince House

Hello All!! Today post is a continuous about restaurant(s) at Jakarta, Indonesia.

For the following few days, I will be keep sharing all the restaurant that I tried at my home town. Hope you will not find it too boring.

Prince House is a nice and cozy restaurant; it is quite famous among youngsters who are staying at Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara (or the surrounding area).

Perhaps it’s because the restaurant’s ambience, the quality of the foods and of course their affordable price.

Their specialty dish is a Belgian Waffle. They claimed that their Waffle is the first Belgian Waffle (9cm diameter) with most toppings in South East Asia since 2009.

Other than waffle, my friend (Olivia) shared with me that their pasta is not bad either.

Based on her recommendation, we ordered Berry Freeze Gelato, Spaghetti Pesto Crispy Sausages and Creamy Chicken Soup. As for the drinks, we ordered Lychee Jasmine and Lychee Mojito.

I was impressed with their Spaghetti Pesto Crispy Sausages. The taste is very good. Perhaps, it is one of the best pasta that I have ever tried before. The sausages are generously given.

The Berry Freeze Gelato is refreshing and not that sweet.

I like the Lychee Mojito. The lychee is fresh. The sweetness level of this juice is perfect for me.

Overall, I truly enjoy had my dinner in here. Thanks to Olivia for brought me there.

The only thing that bothers me about this restaurant is the location itself. This restaurant is located just beside the main road that, so there were a lot vehicles passed by (especially at the night) and the best part is THERE IS NO traffic light provided.

For pedestrian (like me), It’s quite difficult to cross the street.

Spaghetti Pesto Crispy Sausages IDR33.999

 Berry Freeze Gelato IDR22.999

Creamy Chicken Soup IDR23.999

Lychee Mojito IDR19.999

Lychee Jasmine IDR14.999

Calais - Artisan Bubble Tea and Coffee

Hello, All!!! I am Back :P

Last week, I went back to my hometown (Jakarta – Indonesia) for a short break. Over there, I was relaxing and (of course) was hunting for a nice food!!

One of the places I visited was Calais - Artisan Bubble Tea and Coffee.

Calais offers many types of Tea (such as fresh milk tea, rose tea, fruit tea) and Coffee.

They claimed that they used the best quality tea leaves (from English Earl Grey, Taiwanese Oolong Tea and Japanese Green Tea) and coffee bean from famous Indonesia roaster (Anomali Coffee).

Over there, I and my friend (Olivia) ordered their highly recommended beverage: Taro Milk Tea and Calais Milk Latte Small Bubble. Both beverages were nice.

Normally in Singapore, we only can choose the sugar level. But over there, we could also choose the ice cubes portion (less, normal or more) as well.

Right now, Calais is only available in Indonesia. I hope, in the future they can open their branch at Singapore.

Hello Kai and Hello Jia

To welcome Singapore two cute Pandas, Bread Talk is creating a new style of breads which representing the Kai Kai and Jia Jia.

Those bread creations are quite unique in Singapore.

You can differentiate it by its eyes and ribbon. The female panda (Hello Jia) has this curly eyelashes and wear a pink ribbon.

Hello Kai filling is chocolate and Hello Jia filling is cheese.

The filling is generously added. The tastes are not bad. Personally, I like Hello Jia better.

Hello Jia is more popular than the Hello Kai. That’s why; you can call yourself lucky, if you manage to get the Hello Jia in the evening.

Hello Kai and Hello Jia  S$1.70 (each)
