Leong Kee (Klang) Bak Kut Teh

Good Day to Everyone!!

Today I want to share Leong Kee (Klang) Bak kut Teh restaurant. I and colleagues went there to try the herbal soup (black colour) bak kut teh.

From the name itself, I believed this bak kut teh is come from Malaysia. FYI, Klang is one of a city in Malaysia which is famous for the bak kut teh.

In Singapore, I seldom see restaurant which selling herbal soup bak kut teh.

Most of my colleagues said that their version of herbal soup bak kut teh is not that tasty. But for me, the taste is acceptable. The herbal soup taste is nice and the meat is tender.

Maybe it’s because I never try herbal soup bak kut teh before, so there is nothing for me to compare.

I am sure they use the real herbal ingredient to boil the soup. It’s because my light running nose was disappear right after I finished eat their bak kut teh :)

RamenPlay

I believed most of you know Bread Talk as a bakery shop. But, did you know that Bread Talk also open Ramen restaurant?

Yup, they open Ramen restaurant called RamenPlay.

RamenPlay is a restaurant comes from collaboration between Singapore's BreadTalk Group Limited and Sanpou Co. Ltd, whose distinguished name in Japan is synonymous with quality ramen for almost 50 years.

Over there, we ordered Chicken Katsu Curry Ramen, Cha Shu Tonkotsu Ramen and RamenPlay Bamboo Chicken.

Cha Shu Tonkotsu Ramen has a tasty broth soup with a tender cha shu. I really like this.

Chicken Katsu Curry Ramen is not bad either. Chicken Katsu is crispy and the curry has a sweet-spicy taste.

RamenPlay Bamboo Chicken is one of a popular dish at RamenPlay. The chicken was juicy. The combination with the egg yolk makes a great taste.

Don’t judge the quality of their food by the restaurant name (RamenPlay). They never play-play with the quality of their foods =P

All of those dishes that I tried were very tasty.

Todamgol

Did you know that Tanjong Pagar road is known as a ‘Little Korea’ of Singapore? It’s because of many Korea’s restaurants operates around this road. One of the special and nice Korean restaurants around there called Todamgol.

The first thing attracted us to eat over there was its unique design and their cool decorations. Love the atmosphere and the cosy lighting make you feels comfortable. Maybe when you see their price, you will get cold feet =P

Just bear in mind that over there, every one dish is more than enough for 3 persons.

We ordered: Kim Chi Jun Gol, Charcoal Yang-nyum BBQ and Sam Gyub Sal. Each of us ordered a plain of plain rice.

As a starter, they served 6 different types of side dishes. There is no additional charge for those side dishes. The best thing is you may top up those side dishes. Oh, how I love Korean restaurant (greedy mode)!!

The first dish (and the best as well) they served was Kim Chi Jun Gol. The soup was fantastic! It was hot, spicy and taste heavenly. For me, just this dish and a plain of rice is enough to make my day brighter. And I can easily say that this is one of the best kimchi I tried so far.

Charcoal Yang-nyum BBQ is a marinated Chicken Charcoal BBQ. The chicken is tender and nice; the sauce is sweet.

Sam Gyub Sal is a pork belly. That dish comes with lettuce. The pork belly is tender and juicy. Just wrap the pork belly with the lettuce, and add their special sauce. I’m sure it will make a big smile on your face.

Overall, I was super satisfied having dinner at Todamgol.

It's really worth if you go with at least 3 persons.

Grin Affair

Good Evening, Everyone!!! Today I want to share with you one unique’ cake from Grin Affair.

I called it unique because they put the cake inside a cute jar. I know about this shop from one entertainment show on Channel 8.

They offers many cake flavours such as: Strawberry Custard, Mango, Kiwi Cheesecake, Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate, Lychee Passion fruit with Sea Salt Pistachio, Cookies and Cream, Matcha and Azuki Bean, Honey Lavender and Blueberry, Durian, Maron (Chestnut) and Banoffe.

We tried Strawberry Custard, Dark Chocolate and Lychee Passion fruit with Sea Salt Pistachio.

Strawberry Custard consists of fresh strawberry chunks with rich custard mousse, moist vanilla cake and finished off with a layer of strawberry.

Dark Chocolate consists of dark chocolate mousse with soft chocolate cake, topped with sea salt dulce de leche and chocolate ganache dome.

Lychee passion fruit with Sea Salt Pistachio consists of delicately sweet lychee mousse contrasted with the sour tang of passion fruit and topping of sea salt pistachio, layered with moist vanilla cake.

My favourite is Strawberry Custard.

FYI: For Ladies, if you are planning to bring back home their cute jar, remember to order it take away. Don’t consume the cake over there; otherwise you will need to return it over there.

Xiang Ji Chicken Rice

Previously, I stayed at Bedok Reservoir area. Over there got a small market and hawker centre.

Since, I can’t take “big breakfast” set on every weekend; I’d love to explore the food at that market.

Today, I want to share with you one famous chicken rice shop called Xiang Ji Chicken Rice.

Normally, the queue is very long (especially in the during lunch time).

What is so special about this shop? I guess it's because of their rice and chili. The rice is very tasty. It's different with other chicken rice shop.

The portion is quite big and the best part is the price is affordable. They have 3 different prices: S$2.00, S$2.50, and S $3.00.

Other than chicken, they also sell roasted pork and char siew. But, If you go there, I suggest you to try their chicken rice. It's nicer than either their roasted pork or char siew.

SSIKKEK BBQ

Happy Wednesday to Everyone!!! It’s a two more days to weekend, Yippee!!!

Today I want to share with you all another Korean buffet restaurant called SSIKKEK BBQ. It has a few branches around Singapore. Last two weeks, I and colleagues went to Novena to give a try.

What is so special about SSIKKEK BBQ?

Okay, first of all (and the best part), their price is affordable. With slightly above S$20.00 for each person, you can get a lot varieties of raw foods (such as: chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, etc.) and “cooked” dishes.

They offer two different types of raw meat: marinated and not marinated. I prefer the marinated meat, simply because it's tastier =)

The marinated meats are fresh enough, except the shrimp. All of us skip their shrimp.

Their service quality is good as well. The waiter/waitress quite prompt and helpful to keep changing the aluminium foils which is used to grill the meat.

We all love having our dinner over there. Really worth money!

FYI, you might want to make a reservation to avoid the long queue.

Hong Kong Egglet

Hong Kong Egglet is a new food stall open at Bugis Junction. They got sell this waffles that looks like 30 ball pieces of eggs all stick together.

Every time I by passes this stall; I always saw a quite long queue. That's makes me curious to try this cute snacks.

I bought their Hong Kong Egglet Cheese. The egglet is very nice, got this nice fragrance and it tastes very sweet.

It will be nicer if you eat the egglet while it’s still hot. When it turns cold, the crunchy and crispy texture will be missing; the worst thing is it will be hard to bite instead.

Other than Cheese, they also have others egglet's flavour, such as: Original, Chocolate and Chicken Floss.

The prices are:- Original egglet: S$2
- Chocolate egglet: S$2.50
- Cheese egglet: S$2.80
- Chicken Floss egglet: S$2.80

FYI, Hong Kong Egglet is famous Hong Kong street snack since 1950.

IKEA Restaurant

I believed most of you know IKEA as an international home products’ company that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture such as beds, chairs, desks, appliances and home accessories.

But did you know that IKEA also famous with their foods?

IKEA restaurant is located inside its own building. In Singapore, there are only two IKEA stores available, one is located at Alexandra and the other one is at Tampines.

Their restaurant sells many types of Swedish dishes. Some of their famous dishes are Poached Salmon with Chives Sauce, Swedish Meatballs and Chicken Wings.

Poaches Salmon with Chives Sauce is a chef's recommendation dish. The taste is nice.

Swedish Meatballs also not bad. Their meatballs are not hard and tasty. Their combination with strawberry jam makes the taste unique. You even can buy back the IKEA’s frozen meatballs to cook it yourself at home.

I guess their Fried Chicken Wings are the most favourites over there. I’ve noticed that almost everyone had at least one plate (with 3/4 chicken wings on it) on their table. Their chicken wings are indeed SPECIAL. They are crispy, juicy and tastes so delicious.

We also tried Soup of The Day (Forest Mushrooms) with bun.

Just FYI, they also provide vegetarian dishes (available daily).

Overall, we were satisfied having our lunch over there. Don’t be surprise when you see a long queue over there (even when it’s not even lunch/dinner time).
